Box: Fun Fit Fab

Cost: $49.99/box

What is it: a female lifestyle box filled with beauty, wellness, fitness and fashion items curated by Giuliana Rancic

Thanks to Kim Zolciak Biermann and her instagram post, the Gold Radiance Luxury Facial Mask with Collagen and Rose Oil (Value $65) was one of the most anticipated spoilers in the Fall 2015 box.

When I finally received the masks in the mail, I was surprised by the size and weight of the mask. They are much bigger and heavier than I expected.   I immediately became torn between using it right away and saving this precious piece of gold.  After much debate (10 mins) I decided to use it that night.

Passport to Beauty's description of the masks:

"specially formulated with luxurious colloidal gold along with collagen to promote your skin’s natural beauty. The surface of the mask is coated with a gold essence and infusion of Rosa Damascena, a fragrant, pink-flowering plant that yields rose petals that provide the precious rose essential oil, regarded to be more precious than gold.

When left on for 20 minutes, this luxurious high performing mask melts into your skin leaving it rejuvenated and restored and giving you an instant radiant glow that leaves the skin hydrated and the appearance more youthful.

With thoughtful openings for the eyes, nose, and mouth, the perfectly-fitted mask unfolds into a non-mess, no-fuss 20 minute luxury facial treatment. The Gold Radiance Luxury Facial Mask can be stored in the refrigerator for a cooling and tightening sensation upon use."

After washing my face I started my evening pampering.  When I first put on the mask, I noticed it was too big for my face - the mouth area kept sagging down to my chin - I pushed it up, it slid down, I pushed it up, it slid down - finally I decided this mask was too heavy to do anything in but lie down.  Now I know why both Kim and Brielle were 'holdling' the masks in the instagram picture.

I went to lie down to enjoy the mask.  This mask is very different than the ones I am use to.   The ones I am used to are paper/cloth based which soaks up the serum well.  When you put on the infused mask it lets your skin slowly absorb the serum over the 10-20 min period.  This one on the other hand, seem to be made of material that doesn't absorb the serum well.  So I started thinking - is the gold in the mask or is the gold in the serum? Will this mask dissolve and melt into my skin like candy?

Let me read the package - "Colloidal Gold" = micro size gold in fluid - fluid in this case is the collagen base and rose essential oil.   This means the essence is in the clear serum.  Problem - since this mask is not absorbent, I see an excessive amount of serum left in the package. Regardless, I waited 20 mins.

Love the color + love the look and my friends asked me when I sent them a picture "Is this for a facial or is this for Halloween?"

20 mins later, my face looked brighter.   Since there were so much serum left I looked at the silicon like mask and washed it, dried it, and tuck it back in the plastic with the serum and put in the fridge.  I wonder if I can use it again.  I read online previously some people did this to get two uses out of masks - we shall see.  I usually just pour the essence directly on my face and use it as a serum before my lotion versus a mask.  I will try the reuse method this time and see how it goes.

Verdict: I am not sure I will pay $65 for two or $35 for one.  The 24K Gold Mask Pure Luxury Lift & Firm from Peter Thomas Roth is $80 and will last about 10+ applications.   But I might change my mind after using my 2nd application if I see miracles.
