HelloFlo Clue App

Tuesday, November 25, 2014

HelloFlo is a time of the month subscription box for $20/month (or cheaper if you prepay for longer), customized based on light, medium or heavy flow.  Then you get to pick if you want tampons, pads or both.  Not all subscribers receive their shipments at the same time, instead, it is timed to arrive at least 5 days prior to your period.

HelloFlo recently released an FREE app, Clue, to help its subscribers track their monthly cycle, fertility, moods and more.  You can download the app at the app store.

The first time you use the app, the app ask you a few questions about yourself to start tracking:

Once you get pass the intro, the home page of the app shows your cycle, when you are most likely to get pregnant and when you are likely to experience PMS:

It can also track your moods and flow:

On a monthly basis, Clue can remind you when you are about to start your cycle, or if you are trying for a baby, your fertility window, or set reminders for your annual checkup.

What do you think of the app? I am excited to try it and see what I find out about myself.   I am really glad that they took the trouble to make this app and make it free for its subscribers (or non-subscribers).  With all the different time of the month subscriptions out there, this bonus really makes HelloFlo stand out for me.

Toms for Target Charity Monthly Subscriptions

Monday, November 24, 2014

In the month of giving, Target partnered with Toms and released a line that help feed america.  In the spirit of giving,  it inspired me to do this post, highlighting the subscription boxes that will continue to donate throughout the year:

Square Hue: A monthly nail polish subscription for $14.99/month + shipping for 3 full-size .50oz, made in the USA, nail polishes.  Square Hues donates a portion of your monthly subscription to charity through their HueGive program. The charity may change from time to time, currently it is focusing on human trafficking with the A21 Campaign.

Mightee Kids:  Is a $18.50/month subscription box aimed for parents to teach their kids about charity at a very young age.  Each month, a new charity is selected, and the subscription is filled with information and a T-shirt for parents to discuss with their kids how their subscription ($5 donated with each subscription) made the difference.

Love with Food: an organic or all natural snack box subscription that donates meals to food banks for every box they sell.  For the the Tasting Box, $10/month shipping included, 1 meal is donated. For the $17/month Deluxe box and the $24.95/month Gluten Free box, 2 meals are donated.

Can't beat that - doing good while getting something we love in the mail.  I must admit - if Toms shoes has a monthly subscription, I would probably jump on it immediately.

Popsugar MUST HAVE missing item review

Sunday, November 23, 2014

My October 2014 POPSUGAR MUST HAVE was missing the butter London Wink eye pencil (see here for more details on how Popsugar handled it). In short, I contacted Popsugar and they sent me a replacement.  It came in a small box:

For some reason, I expected a card with a short note apologizing for the missing item - NOPE, only excessive bubble wrap to keep my eye pencil safe from breakage, which I appreciate.

Love the details inside the butter London Wink pencil packaging.

The color of eye pencil: earl grey.   See rest of the items in the October box here.

Digg Quarterly subscription box cancelled

Saturday, November 22, 2014

Digg, a news aggregator with a spin on viral issue, had a quarterly box on all things cultural, random & fresh was cancelled.  This is very sad news for me because I loved their last box, and it was a box I wanted to add to my subscription. I recently featured some of the items in the last box in my Kevin Rose, founder of diggs, box, read it here.

Check out the items that were in their one and only box in this video.

Such a shame....

Fresh Blue Box #FirstFrenchKiss

Thursday, November 20, 2014

While this does not come in the mail, it does come in a very pretty powdered-blue box.  Fresh, a luxury skin-care and cosmetic, is delivering special kisses in their mobile blue box this holiday.  The blue box will make special appearances at the Grove, LA on November 20th and in Pasadena on December 10th from 10am-6pm for a french kissed inspire fun and giveaway.  Shoppers can design a makeup bag with your own lip print and receive free Fresh samples.  Plus, tell your first kiss story and enter to win $1000 Fresh.com shopping spree.

I am extremely disappointed I won't be able to attend on November 20th, what a treat it would have been!  Hopefully they will expand this program to include more locations.

Spoiler - Bill Nye, Arianna Huffington, Dave Asprey Quarterly Box

Wednesday, November 19, 2014

Quarterly subscription released more spoilers today for a few upcoming holiday boxes.  My favorite is the Aeropress that will be included in Dave Asprey's next (aka his first) box.

Look how easy it is to use.

Other spoilers from Arianna Huffington, Eva Scrivo, Bill Nye and Melissa Joulwan below.  I have seen the knuckle mug from Melissa Joulwan (Paleo expert) included in other subscription boxes before, I wonder why she picked this particular mug.

What do you think of the spoilers? Are you going to purchase additional boxes for the holidays?

Hello Flo November 2014 Review

Monday, November 17, 2014

Hello Flo is a time of the month subscription box for $20/month, customized based on light, medium or heavy flow. Then you get to pick if you want tampons or pads only or a mix of tampons and pads.  Not all subscribers receive their shipment at the same time, instead, it is timed to arrive 5 days before your period.  Here is how it came:

Super cute box...I love how the public will only see the "hello" and only upon opening it, you discover the hidden "flo". Very clever and discreetly designed box.

The inside of the box is just as cute.

Love how the tampons and pads comes in new packaging.  This is the selection for medium flow with tampons & pads mix.

Each month also coms with a treat  This month is Sweetriot's wild & wonderful cherry granola and yummies candy coated chocolate drops.  Each package only has 100 calories.  They also included a postcard explaining the treats.

This postcard reminds you that HelloFlo is more than a subscription service, it is about your overall health.  They have a free app that can help you track how your cycle changes, your periods, cramps and moods as well as to help you keep a record of OB/GYN visits.  I love how the postcards included in this box is not just extra paper that I will throw away.  Instead, it is informative information on how to help me keep my health better.

And finally, love love love the reusable canvas bag where all the goodies go in.  I believe this comes with the 1st month subscription only.  A lot people try to get multiple of these because this is so perfect for all the bathrooms.

Overall, I love this subscription, now, if they throw in a few liners, I really will not need to go to the store for supplies.

See how other "time of the month" subscriptions compare with my review on BiziBubble here

Riot Read Monthly v. Quarterly

Thursday, November 13, 2014

Riot Read has a monthly subscription that sends you one book a month for $25 and a quarterly subscription that sends you multiple books once a quarter for $50.  The books do not repeat so you can actually subscribe to both if you want.

The monthly sends one book a month, and it generally includes a note from Riot Read why the book is picked for the month plus a brief synopsis of the book.   In the past they have included the following:

The Quarterly subscription contains at least one book and bookish stuff, however, for the last two subscriptions, the box contained three books.  I also really love the "bookish stuff" such as letters and notes from the author throughout the book. Check out some of the past boxes below:

I think the quarterly for $50 is the better value plus the author's notes make reading the book even more fun.  I sure hope they will keep up with 3 books a box to provide subscribers a book a month.
Which subscription would you pick?
